A Tough Week for 'Dancing with the Stars' Marie Osmond

Sexy Cameron Mathison may have finally been put out of his misery when he was let go from the hit show Dancing with the Stars, but all of the talk has been about America’s sweetheart Marie Osmond. After sadly losing her father, the Stars finalist was bombarded by questions about her son in rehab while on Larry King Live.

The Osmond’s have been in the entertainment business for over fifty years, but Marie’s stunningly successful run on Dancing with the Stars on television has catapulted the family back into the media spotlight in a big way.

Last week, the family patriarch George Osmond died at the age of 90, and the family and the public grieved for his loss. Marie came back triumphantly on the show and wowed audiences with her performance to capture a spot in the final four. On the show, she stated that she danced in honor of her father who had given so much love and support for his family over the years.

Later in the week, she made a trip to Larry King to thank fans for their support and to talk about her loss when King began asking her questions about her 16-year-old son who had recently checked into rehab.

A stunned Marie questioned how he knew about the private matter and eventually released a statement to the press that said:

"My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn't be more proud of him. The press and public have always been kind and gracious in the past and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time."

Osmond has become an inspiration for women all over the country and said on her recent appearance on Oprah, “For women who find themselves like me, a single mom, you know, at 48... life is not over. I would rather climb a mountain than crawl in a hole."

The Dancing with the Stars finale will air over the next weeks.
